Land Rover Italy is supporting the Italian Red Cross (IRC) to provide practical support to homeless people in Milan and Rome.
Since 2012 this project has already helped around 700 vulnerable people by providing food and clothing, but also through emotional, mental and medical support.
Building on the success of the existing partnership with the IRC, Land Rover is increasing its support continuing to provide vehicles and working on a series of joint initiatives such as fundraising events, street patrolling with IRC volunteers, project visits and joint communication campaigns.
Over the next five years, this enhanced partnership will help the charity expand the project by developing a more structured and in-depth programme of street patrolling and social rehabilitation activities as well as improved volunteer training.
Several new centres of operation will open in major Italian cities, replicatingthe current initiatives in Rome and Milan.
Ultimately, by addressing some of the deeper problems underlying homelessness, such as poor health conditions, unemployment and social marginalisation, this project will have a lasting and positive impact on the beneficiaries, and consequently on the wider community.
We are committed to making a positive contribution to society. Through our Global Corporate Social Responsibility programme, we are Advancing Knowledge and Improving Lives with investment in health, humanitarian and environmental projects. Ultimately, our goal is to bring positive change to the lives of 12 million people worldwide by 2020.
