Working towards a Happier Portugal

...with the Portuguese Red Cross

Land Rover in Portugal are lending support to a project run by the Portuguese Red Cross (PRC) which supports families who find themselves in difficulty due to serious economic or health problems. This has become particularly pertinent in recent years with the economic and unemployment crisis in Portugal.

(PRC) aims to work together with families to find a solution to their problems and needs. Mentoring, coaching and counselling are the main forms of support. Where appropriate, this can also extend to donations of food, clothes and medicines, and financial assistance to help pay for water and electricity bills or health services on a short term basis.

Each local branch of PRC works in partnership with local associations, and private and public companies to help unemployed people find a job or create their own income. Also, the charity’s staff and volunteers work closely with the families, helping them to develop skills and take positive actions towards their difficult situation.

From 2014 Land Rover will provide both financial support and employee volunteering to help these families succeed. This will also create benefits for the wider community; stimulating economic activity, improving health and reducing cases of depression, violent crime and domestic or child abuse.

We are committed to making a positive contribution to society. Through our Global Corporate Social Responsibility programme, we are Advancing Knowledge and Improving Lives with investment in health, humanitarian and environmental projects. Ultimately, our goal is to bring positive change to the lives of 12 million people worldwide by 2020.
