The future is a very exciting place and we strive to be at the forefront of the next generation of mobility solutions.
Dramatic changes taking place in the world, present some significant challenges for the automotive industry:
- Global energy demand is predicted to surge by a third from 2010 to 2015
- In emerging markets, transport needs could see oil consumption rocket by 15% from 2010 to 2035
- By 2030, 60% of the global population are predicted to live in cities (Vs 40% in 1990)
- Demand for natural resources is outstripping supply
Such new parameters, require us to think about our products in a completely different way. Right now, our top experts are investigating the potential of new technology to re-define the way high performance and luxury can be delivered in this future environment.
We are listening, learning and discovering ways to do things better, at the cutting edge of innovation.
A Glimpse of things to come
Our Jaguar XJ_e concept vehicle delivers CO2 emissions of less than 75g/km, fuel economy of 87mpg and can travel 25 miles on electric power, without compromising performance: it is also able to reach 100km/hr (62mph) in under 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250km/h (150mph).
This work won us two awards at the 2012 RAC Future Car Challenge: Most Energy Efficient Luxury Car Prototype and the Technical Panel’s Award of Merit.
